How to Make Follow-up Work for You

I am so proud of you for striving to make you direct sales gig the best that it can be! (I know you are, otherwise you wouldn't be here!)  In this series of posts, we've been chatting about all the systems that are needed to make your DS biz REALLY thrive.  And with a little hard work, and a great set of systems, it TOTALLY can!! 

This post is number {TWO} in a series of {FOUR} that will walk you through how to use all Dot's features to their maximum potential, and get you set up for success by setting up your work system just the way you like it. I hope you're ready to see your direct sales gig soar!

Teamwork makes the dream work

There is no doubt, the most important thing in your business is the people. Without them, you wouldn't have a business at all! At This is Dot, we understand that direct sellers have a unique community of people that make up their businesses. Up-line, side-line, team, hosts, customers & prospects. Each one is a vital part of a growing business, so you need to make sure that you have a way to keep track of all the important relationships that make up YOUR business.

Here is how we get that done with This is Dot!

On the dashboard you can find your team members. We put these lovely faces front & center when you log in to your dashboard because they are the beginning & the future of your business. Your up-line is your cheer squad, and your team is the overflow of your excitement for your business. Regular contact with both of these tribes is vital. If you are a brand new direct seller, start by adding your sponsor here. Before you know it, we bet there will be many faces added as you share your opportunity. 

In your contacts tab you will find all of your contacts. You can search them by name, sort them by type, and easily add more anytime you wish. You can add a new contact by clicking the "+" button on either the dashboard or in your contacts tab. This is perfect for when you meet a new prospect out & about, or at an event during checkout time. If you have a whole bunch of contacts that you want to quickly upload into your workspace, we have an option for that too!

To import contacts from a spreadsheet or your device, just click the import button in your contacts tab and follow the instructions. (We have spelled out this process step-by-step to help you complete it easily, but don't be fooled, it is not nearly as complicated as it looks!! Devices store contacts using a little thing called CSV files, so there are specific ways to transfer their CSV format over to our This is Dot format and magically make them all appear in your Dot account. Androids, apples, bananas & hyperbots (that last one may not actually be a thing) all do this a little differently, so we created a handy guide for each on our support page. The whole process usually takes 10 minutes or less!  If you are already ultra-organized and have your contacts saved on a spread sheet, the process will be a super-cinch for you, and you will get to skip-over half the process!! Extra points if this is you! Woot woot.

The Fortune is in the Follow-Up, so I have heard. I tend to agree. With Dot, you have an effective and easy way to keep track of all the follow up. You may notice the little field at the bottom of the ADD CONTACT form: this allows you to set a reminder to follow up with this person on the schedule you choose. Select IN or EVERY and then the TIMEFRAME, and save. A handy reminder will appear on your To-Do list for that day. Here are some examples of how our users have been using the follow up feature:

  • PROSPECT Set a reminder to call them IN-2-DAYS following an opportunity presentation to answer any questions they may have thought of
  • CUSTOMERS Set a reminder to touch base IN-2-WEEKS to check if their order came in & make sure they love it. {Pro-tip: hand your phone to said customer during checkout at an event and allow them to fill out the ADD CONTACT form while you total their order. Then quickly add the follow up before you save it, and you will be wowing your valued customers with great service when you remember to touch base with them right after their order comes in!
  • TEAM MEMBERS Set a recurring reminder EVERY-1-WEEK to check in with a brand new recruit until they have found their feet. Easily adjust this reminder later by editing the follow up to EVERY-1-MONTH once they are rolling like a well-oiled machine. 

Taking notes
is a leadership success trick from way back. When you use Dot's note feature for your contacts, not only will you look look SO professional in every business contact situation, you'll let people know that you truly care about them when you remember that thing they mentioned to you on the phone last month, and your brain will thank you for letting Dot keep track of it, instead of stashing it away with all the other things whirling around in your head on a day-to-day basis.

You can add a note when you save a new contact, or anytime in the future by clicking the "edit contact" icon from an individual contact profile and scrolling to the bottom of the form.
